The Lincoln Electric Company is the world's largest supplier of welding equipment and consumables servicing the home hobbyist through to industries as diverse as fabrication, mining, construction and the motorsport industry. In addition, Lincoln Electric® operates the largest R&D facility dedicated to welding technology.

Springing from a modest investment of $200 in 1895 when John C Lincoln developed an electric motor of his own design, the Company now has manufacturing facilities in nineteen countries, including Australia since 1938.

Originally established in modest premises in Sydney's suburb of Alexandria, The Lincoln Electric Company (Australia) Pty Ltd moved to newly built premises at Padstow in 1953. With 9 acres under roof, outfitted with an on-site laboratory and engineering development facilities, the site remains a key manufacturing location today and is ISO 9001 Certified.

Over two hundred staff are employed in the Australian/New Zealand region and The Lincoln Electric Company is famous for its productive and highly-skilled work force, as well as its unique compensation system, Incentive Management.

Products from other Lincoln Electric facilities throughout the world complements locally manufactured products to create a complete product line of high quality, cost-effective welding and cutting products. Encompassing robotic welding systems to quality portable welding machines, welding consumables tailored to every conceivable application, through to safety gear, accessories and spare parts, Lincoln Electric® are The Welding Experts®.

Incentive Performance - A Cornerstone of Our Culture

The Incentive Performance System has been in place at Lincoln Electric since the early twentieth century. It has resulted in one of the oldest "pay-for-performance" systems in the industrialised world, and is frequently used for benchmarking by other businesses and studied at universities and colleges around the world.

The Incentive Performance System in place at Lincoln Electric features Piecework incentive rewards for all production work and an annual Bonus Plan, based on profit-sharing for employees at the discretion of the Board of Directors.

We also have an Advisory Board, with members elected from all sections of the business, to directly address concerns and discuss business performance with senior management.

Lincoln Electric actively encourages every employee to get involved in determining business direction and compensates individual initiative and responsibility.
